Membership

The membership of the Association consists of:

Full members (registered (warranted) persons to practise the psychotherapy profession in Malta)

The rights, duties, and obligations of full members of the Association are:

  • To participate in the work of the Association
  • To elect and be elected on the Boards of the Association
  • To be informed and to keep abreast on the work of the Association
  • To be loyal to the Association and its aims
  • To protect the reputation, and interests of the Association
  • To pay the membership fee regularly
  • To respect the provisions of the MAP Statute, Ethical codes of the psychotherapeutic profession and other acts of the Association

The membership of the Association may cease by voluntary resignation, expelling in case of infringement of the provisions of the obligations as set out in the Statute, member's death; dissolution of member organisation.

The list of full paid-up members is updated if necessary.

Associate members (trainee psychotherapists and/or students)

The rights, duties, and obligations of associate members of the Association are:

  • To participate in the work of the Association
  • To be informed about the work of the Association
  • To be loyal to the Association and its aims
  • To protect the reputation, and interests of the Association
  • To pay the membership fee regularly, the amount of which shall be lower than that of a full member
  • To respect the provisions of the MAP Statute, Ethical codes of the psychotherapeutic profession and other acts of the Association

The membership of the Association may cease by voluntary resignation, expelling in case of infringement of the provisions of the obligations as set out in the Statute, member's death; dissolution of member organisation.

Honorary members

Dr Charles Cassar, Ms Catherine Caligari Conti, Dr Lidija Pecotic, Ms Lisa Sultana, Dr Elena Borg

Honorary membership of the Association may be awarded to deserving persons whose merits contributed to the work of the Association. Individuals or organisations may be awarded honorary membership of the Association if the boards or executives of the Association propose so. Honorary members have the right to attend meetings of the boards of the Association, to propose activities and to participate in all activities of the Association. Honorary membership ceases in the same way as membership of individuals and organisations.
